SPRYE Welcomes Six New Board Members

SPRYE, a membership-based organization for adults 55-years and older who want to live confidently at home and stay connected to their community welcomes six new board members. (left to right)

Betsy Biddle originally trained as a pediatric nurse at Boston Children’s Hospital, but later changed her career focus to elder care. For the past two decades, she served as Executive Director of Andrus on Hudson, a 200-bed skilled nursing facility in the town of Hastings on Hudson.

Bronx native Angela Cozzi has lived in Harrison and Rye for the past 45-plus years. Employment on Wall Street and a film company eventually led to work with an insurance-coverage law firm, where she served as a forensic accountant. Wheel-chair bound with multiple sclerosis, she has been an active SPRYE member since 2013.

Barbara Cummings, who grew up in Richmond, VA, has lived in Rye since 1974. She attended the University of Pennsylvania Law School and also received a Masters of Law in taxation from New York University. She practices in Rye, specializing in matrimonial, real estate, and trusts and estates law.

Working with elderly patients during his military service led South African native Shane Cunningham to become interested in SPRYE and its mission, when he observed many that had a lack of support network. He moved to the New York area from London in 2008, with a background in media, marketing and technology. He currently works at Salesforce, an emerging technology business.

Lisa Hoxie also grew up in the Bronx. Studies at the College of New Rochelle and Lehman College in the Bronx led to a Recreation Professional specialization, and jobs at the United Hebrew Geriatric Center in New Rochelle and Flushing House, in Flushing. Eventually, she became the Activities Coordinator at The Osborn Senior Living in Rye, where she is now the Life Enrichment Director.

Patrick Koechlin and his wife, Julie, have lived in the same house in Rye for 31 years, where they raised their daughters. For many of those years, Koechlin has cared for his wife, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2009, leading to his appreciation of SPRYE’S mission of supporting senior citizens in their homes. A graduate of Princeton University, Koechlin worked for 40 years in sales management for technology and telecommunications companies. In 2015, he retired from Cisco Systems.
