SPRYE is pleased to announce Rye Brook resident Lauren Miscimarra as its new board president.
SPRYE is a not-for-profit that helps adults 60 years old and up age in place in their homes and the communities they love. It serves Harrison, Port Chester, Rye, and Rye Brook.
Lauren takes over the position from Osborn Home Health Executive Vice President Michele Thomas, who will remain on the Advisory Council.
Lauren said, “We’re excited about resuming in-person events and our new technology initiative, which will provide training and help to get people comfortable using smart devices. With the guidance of our Executive Director, Marie Johnson, and her Administrative Assistant, Kathy Barefoot, we plan to leave no older adult unconnected.”
Prior to her volunteer work, Lauren managed Mellon Bank Grand Cayman and traded international money market securities for Continental Bank, Chicago.
Upon moving to Rye in 1988, she became active in the PTO’s, Rye Historical Society, Rye Youth Council, Agatha Durland Society, Entertainment Governor at Shenorock Shore Club, and worked as a substitute teacher in the RCSD.
SPRYE also announced four new Board members:
Jim Alben-Davies
With a B.A. in finance from London School of Economics, Jim had a successful career in finance, from which he is now retired. He, his wife Jenny and their two daughters have lived in Rye since 1983, all participating as active volunteers in local organizations including Carver Center and Bread of life. Jim served as Chairman of the Board of Sacred Heart in Greenwich, helping increase its enrollment and scholarship opportunities.
Ellen Cacciapaglia
Ellen has a B.S. in Mathematics and Education and a Masters in Counselling Psychology. She and her husband Don moved to Rye in 1991. Since then, she has given generously of her time to community organizations including POTS (a soup kitchen in the Bronx), Rye High School’s College and Career room, IMPACT, Helping Hands for the Hungry and Homeless and Caritas, as well as serving as a SPYE driver.
Meg Cameron
Meg studied to be a research scientist, but then chose to stay home and raise her two children. She and her husband Jim Glickenhaus have lived in Rye for 35 years. They own Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus (SCG Cars), a boutique manufacturer of race and road cars. Meg’s civic activity includes serving as an executive member of the board of Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic and Chair of the Rye City Democratic Committee.
Dolores Eyler
Dolores has lived in Rye, and more recently, Harrison, since 1992. A frequent volunteer, she has served on the boards of the Rye YMCA, Little Garden Club of Rye, Rye Presbyterian Church, and the national boards of POSSE and Operation Respect. She has three degrees in journalism and education. Married to Van Siler, she is mother to six adult sons and stepsons and 10 grandchildren. She was the founder of The Rye Record.
